A vision of a very different future with flourishing communities, regenerating ecosystems and connected people

A Local Futures’ emessage asks, “Why are we running harder and faster just to keep a roof over our heads? Why is our food being flown around the world and back again? Why is the gap between rich and poor widening to obscene levels?… Because nation states are allowing global corporations to run the show”.

Local Futures new 8 minute video ‘LOCAL: A Story Of Hope’, made in collaboration with filmmaker Damon Gameau, offers us a way out.

There is nothing evolutionary or inevitable about our current global system; it’s man-made. And if enough of us come together, we can change it. ‘LOCAL’ offers a vision for a very different future – one in which communities are flourishing, ecosystems are regenerating, and people are more connected.

LOCAL: A Story Of Hope, examines the root causes of our social and environmental crises – the global economy – and proposes a call to action: “re-regulate the big and global – rebuild the small and local”.

The global to local message is delivered by three strong voices – Helena Norberg-Hodge (Director, Local Futures), Damon Gameau (‘That Sugar Film’, ‘2040’) and Ella Noah Bancroft (indigenous storyteller).
